On this 11-day trip, you will travel the famous “Avenue of the Volcanoes” to explore 4 of the country’s highest peaks (Imbabura, Pichincha, Cotopaxi, and Chimborazo volcanoes) and visit the Cuicocha crater lake. You can go horseback riding and unload your adrenaline doing bungee jumping, canyoning, rafting, or mountain biking in the province of Baños, with its beautiful waterfalls.
El Cajas, Churute, and Cotopaxi have some of the country’s most beautiful national parks and nature reserves, perfect for a hike. But Ecuador is also a land of rich culture and tradition, as evidenced by a walk through the UNESCO-listed colonial cities of Cuenca and Quito or the more modern Guayaquil. You can learn about the Inca civilization while exploring the archaeological sites of Ingapirca and Cojitambo.

Welcome to Ecuador! Upon arrival in Quito, you will be met by your English-speaking guide who will take you to Otavalo. This picturesque town is the perfect place to settle in and relax for your first night. Enjoy the incredible views and local cuisine while staying in a comfortable hacienda.
This full-day excursion will take you to some of the most beautiful and culturally significant places in Imbabura province. You will begin at the world-famous Otavalo market, where you can browse and purchase traditional Ecuadorian handicrafts. Next, you will visit Peguche, a picturesque village known for its traditional weavers and home to a sacred waterfall. Then we will head to Cuicocha, a volcanic crater lake considered one of the ten most beautiful in Ecuador for its breathtaking scenery, where we will take a simple hike and observe its three islets that are home to more than 400 species of plants and various animals. Finally, you will spend some time in the indigenous community of San Clemente, learning about their way of life and customs, before returning to your hacienda in Otavalo.
We start the morning with a horseback ride through the Zuleta Valley. The valley is full of green pastures and beautiful flowers, the horses are well-trained, and the guides are knowledgeable about the area; horseback riding is a great way to see the valley and get some exercise. Next, we visit the Quitsato sundial, a must-see on this trip: it is one of the largest sundials in the world, an impressive large stone mosaic showing the hours of the day, solstices, and equinoxes.
Return to Quito.
In the morning we will head to Quito’s cable car, the second highest in the world, where we will enjoy a panoramic view of the city and take a short hike along the slopes of the Pichincha volcano before returning to downtown Quito.
In the afternoon, you will discover the secrets and history of the city on a tour of one of the largest and best-preserved historic centers in South America. Visit emblematic places such as the Government Palace or the City Hall, as well as spectacular churches such as the Cathedral of Quito or the Church of San Francisco. You will be amazed by their architecture and incredible decoration. You will also visit the Panecillo, a hill where the Virgin of Legarda is located, an actual work of art of 33 meters high and 124 tons of weight that observes the city and shares its views with visitors.
Afterwards, we will head to Lasso where we will have the afternoon at leisure and prepare for our visit to the Cotopaxi volcano the following day.
Start the day at The Cotopaxi National Park, one of the main tourist destinations in Ecuador for its great diversity of flora and fauna; you can see rabbits, foxes, horses, and the majestic condor. From the parking lot, you can climb to the José Rivas Refuge, where you have a spectacular view of the avenue of volcanoes.
At the bottom of the volcano, you will find the Limpiopungo lagoon, a perfect place to take a leisurely stroll and see nature up close.
In the afternoon, we head towards the city of Baños, crossing the avenue of volcanoes, which show travelers volcanoes, snow-capped mountains, and natural paradises, generating an authentic spectacle.
Arriving in Baños, you can enjoy the views of the Tungurahua volcano and the downtown area.
We start with an active morning in Baños, this city offers many adventure options for its visitors, and we will take advantage of them. We will have the opportunity to do bungee jumping, mountain biking, canyoning, or rafting. After doing one of the mentioned activities, we will go to the Tree House, known for its swing to the end of the world, where you can experience swinging in front of a cliff, which is definitely an experience full of adrenaline.
After all this adventure, we continue our way through the avenue of volcanoes, this time heading to Riobamba and we will have the opportunity to pass by the Chimborazo volcano, the highest volcano in the world from the center of the earth.
Upon arrival, you can explore the city at your leisure in a free evening.
After a delicious early morning breakfast, we hit the road again, heading to the Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve; its flora, fauna, and breathtaking landscapes will take your breath away. We will ascend to the base camp, located at 15,928 ft – 4855 m, to make an incredible descent by bike through the Ecuadorian paramo. On the way, you will be able to observe different animals, such as llamas and alpacas, that the locals have domesticated since the time of the Incas.
In the afternoon, we will return to your village, where you will have the evening at leisure.
This morning we head south, pass through La Balbanera and make a mandatory stop to visit the first Catholic church built in Ecuador. We continue the route to Alausí, a very picturesque town full of history and the starting point of our train ride on the world-famous Devil’s Nose route, one of the most complicated and dangerous railway routes in the world, but also one of the most beautiful.
After lunch, we head to Ingapirca, Ecuador’s best-preserved Inca archaeological complex. Surrounded by a unique landscape, it was an important ceremonial area that united diverse cultures and symbolized the Inca civilization’s power. The Temple of the Sun is the most important place in the complex; it was used as an observatory to determine the solstices and equinoxes.
In the evening, we will head to the beautiful city of Cuenca to spend the night.
Discover the colonial charm of Cuenca on this half-day city tour. Stroll through the beautiful squares and admire the UNESCO-listed architecture. Visit the flower market, Calderon square, the new and old cathedral, San Francisco square and its handicraft market, and finally, the Turi viewpoint for panoramic views of the city, and learn about the manufacturing process of traditional Panama hats in a local factory.
In the afternoon, we will visit the private museum of historian and professor Juan Cordero Íñiguez, who has dedicated most of his life to collecting pre-Columbian art objects, including ceramics, jewelry, and artifacts of daily life.
You will have the evening free to explore the city or relax.
We say goodbye to the beautiful city of Cuenca and take the road to Guayaquil on a journey of about 3:30 hours. On the way, we will pass through the Cajas National Park and La Toradora, which will surprise us with its awe-inspiring natural scenery.
In the afternoon we will arrive at Ecuador’s main port, Guayaquil, where you will have the rest of the day free to explore the city.
On the last day of your trip, you will explore one of Ecuador’s most vibrant cities, Guayaquil. Learn about the culture and history of this fascinating place. Visit landmarks such as the Malecon 2000, the Cathedral, City Hall, the Rotonda Monument, and Las Peñas. You will see the city’s beautiful architecture and learn about its rich history. Finally, your guide will take you to the airport for your flight home.
